February 2009 - Richard
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name. (Psalm 91:14, NKJV)
These are the words that guide Richard through his ongoing battle with Cerebral Palsy. The verse comes from Richard’s favorite Psalm and gives him strength to overcome life’s daily challenges. Thanks to the Audio Bible you helped us provide for him, Richard can hear these words spoken to him whenever he needs encouragement or guidance.
Richard’s parents raised him as if he had no disability, teaching him to live to his full potential as a child of God. As a result, Richard has made it his life’s ministry to encourage others and brighten their journey. The Audio Bible is the fuel that keeps him going.
If you stayed long enough, Richard might even tell you about his adventures with jet skiing, water skiing and snow skiing. Or maybe he’d share some stories about his time at American River College where he received an AA degree in business and computer.
What Richard won’t tell you is how difficult his life really is. Living with Cerebral Palsy means that he is severely limited in his movements and his speech. He can’t even read a book by himself. That’s why the Audio Bible is such a blessing to Richard.
Thanks to your generosity, Richard can turn to the Word of God and seek guidance whenever he needs it most. You are ministering directly to the heart of our brother in Christ.
In fact, that’s why our Audio Bibles ministry is so important. This isn’t about giving away tapes, MP3 discs, or even about sharing Bibles with others – it’s so much more.
Audio Bibles for the Blind seeks to bring strength and encouragement to the print handicapped and light into the darkened world of the visually impaired. That means when you help give an Audio Bible to others like Richard, you strengthen and encourage them. You give them the tools they need to grow in hope and faith.
In Richard’s favorite passage, we learn of the Lord’s promised protection on those who love Him:
I will set him on high, because he has known My name. (Psalm 91:14, NKJV)

If you had the pleasure of meeting Richard, as we did, he would greet you with a smile and leave you feeling more encouraged than when you arrived. He would also tell you what a blessing his Audio Bible has been to him.

In Richard’s favorite passage, we learn of the Lord’s promised protection on those who love Him:

His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4, NKJV)

His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4, NKJV)
These are beautiful words for those who must daily wake up and face a hostile world, for those who must struggle ceaselessly against the challenges that lay before them. But this promise does no good to the men and women who cannot read it, who have no one to tell it to them.
